What an incredible year it has been! I think we’ve seen a little of everything this year right? Good, bad and really ugly.

So what exactly DID happen in 2022?

  • You grew.
  • You tried new things.
  • You were healthy.
  • You were sick.
  • You tried some new things and they failed. You picked yourself up and tried again.
  • Some things you tried worked perfectly! You smiled and kept walking.
  • Some people you loved got sick.
  • Some people you loved died.
  • Some people you loved got healthy again.
  • You fought with some and got angry.
  • You were at peace with others.
  • Some of you started a new business.
  • Others moved onto to something better.
  • You had fun.
  • You loved.
  • You got sad.
  • You loved again.
  • You made new friends.
  • You lost some old ones.
  • You loved again.

2022 certainly gave us some very nasty things, but I don’t want you to focus on that. It’s too easy to focus on the negative. Rolls a bit too easily off our tongues right?  It’s easy to talk about the hurtful things.

Instead, turn around and look at the other side. I want you to list all the positive things that happened to you. The things that made you pause, look deep within yourself, and then allowed you to move forward.

So here’s my question. What are the positive things 2022 gave to you? Think about it. I can wait.

Here’s my answer …

  • I learned more about love.
  • I learned more about forgiveness. I’m not angry anymore.
  • When people showed me who they were? I believed them. I learned how to accept them for who they are.
  • I learned that change is beautiful and leads to even better things if you allow it.

So remember the love. Remember the peace. Remember the beauty.

Move beyond the rest. Learn from the bad stuff, forgive, and move on. I know it’s hard, but it’s worth it in the end.

Forgive those that wronged you.

Forgive yourself as well.

Then move on. Turn and walk the other way, and don’t look back. Just walk. One step at a time if you have to.

Remember, forgiveness doesn’t mean you want a relationship with them, it simply means that you wish to move on. Forgiveness is selfish. You do it for you, not for them. You don’t have to remember the words that were spoken, nor do you have to remember the details. The good, the bad and the ugly will all fade in time and you will be left remembering feelings.

Choose to remember the feelings of love, kindness and compassion.

Why?

As I’ve said before, change your inside and your world will change on the outside. Why?  Because the outside reflects what is going on in the inside.  Keep love on the inside, and love will appear on the outside.

In the end, there is only one thing you should remember when you reflect on everything that happened in 2022.

Just remember the love.

Until next time,

Katharine
