We can all agree that 2020 was horrible. Seriously.
However, to prove to you that it wasn’t all bad, here are ten good things that happened last year.
- Covid-19 stopped the world — but not the absolutely heroic health care and front-line workers!!! Thanks are not enough.
- Africa is now free of Polio.
- The pandemic stopped everyone, but scientists around the world answered the call with unprecedented speed to make vaccines.
- Drive-in movies made a comeback. Plus museums, national parks and zoos around the world closed, but opened up virtually.
- The Supreme Court ruled that no one can be fired for being gay or transgender.
- Carbon dioxide emissions declined
- 14 nations banded together to restore fish populations, reefs and eliminate plastic.
- Go Women! Here are three examples:
- Kamala Harris became the first woman, first Black-American, and first Indian-American Vice President-elect.
- Deb Haaland became the first Native American to hold a cabinet position.
- NASA named its headquarters building in D.C. after Mary W. Jackson, the agency’s first African American female engineer.
- The world came together to fight the devastating Australian wildfires
- The Black Lives Matter movement became the biggest mass movement in U.S. history and has made a huge impact around the world.
Good always happens, sometimes you just have to look for it.
So next time you find yourself in a dark place? Be a flashlight and show people the way out.
Until next time,
